The SSG Christopher W. Swanson Support Charity for Veterans and their Families INC. is a 501 (c) (3) Tax Deductible Charity. The Foundation was established to show Compassion, Thankfulness and Gratitude by providing:
1.
The purchase of a home or homes on the Chesapeake Bay for Military members and their families to use    for a period of time as a haven from the stresses of being treated at Military hospitals and to veterans that have served this great country, giving them a sense of well being and allowing them to reflect with each other.
2.
Promote healing by providing programs such as professional and peer-group counseling and activities for military service members and their families to include parents and siblings of soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
3.
To award scholarships to church youth ministries and high school students who demonstrate leadership values that Christopher believed in such as Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage by leading projects that give back to the community.
4.
To assist by providing financial support to other organizations that provides support to our service members.

The Hogettes Tailgate Party Update

On behalf of the SSG Swanson support Charities for Veterans and their Families, I would like to thank the American Legion Post 206 located in Chesapeake Beach Maryland for hosting the Redskins Hogettes tailgate party to benefit our Foundation. The Legion has been with us from the start of this new journey in our lives. We are honored and humbled to be associated with such a great organization that cares and provides for our Nations Veterans.

To our community and businesses here in Southern Anne Arundel and Calvert County, thank you for the many donated items for the silent auction. We are so thankful for your continuing support. Our son Chris loved his slice of paradise here on the bay. We have heard untold stories of how he bragged about growing up here in “Bay Country”. When we started this new journey in our lives we sought the advice of countless individuals and most importantly those who have done so much for us as a Nation, our Veterans.

This past year the foundation has:

  • Introduced and worked with the State of Maryland to pass legislation to award license plates to Gold Star Families. Over 9500 families in the state are eligible for this honor.

  • Awarded several college scholarships to high school students with our great partners from the American Legion. We have pledged to match their contribution to deserving applicants.

  • Assisted several military families financially in our area and throughout our country when a need has been brought to our attention.

  • Started a military camper fund at River Valley Ranch to assist children of military families with the cost of camp. I was blessed to speak to over 4500 young people and their families on “Weathering Life’s Storms”.

  • Hosted outings for soldiers at Walter Reed and from our area to sporting events to include Golf, Fishing on the Bay, Baltimore Ravens Football, Orioles Baseball, cookouts and dinner outings.

In closing, congratulations to the Redskin Hoggetts on your 25th anniversary! You have brought so much joy to our region and your commitment to give back to charities is truly a blessing.

Proud Family of an American Soldier and Hero,
